Jay P. Tobin
Jay Tobin has been with the firm since 1996 and is a shareholder and a member of the firm's recruiting committee. He practices in the litigation section. His practice involves general civil litigation for individual and corporate defendants, with special experience and interest in the following areas: products liability, business litigation, premises liability, and transportation. Jay practices throughout the state of North Carolina in the state's superior courts and federal district courts. Prior to joining the firm, Jay practiced for five years in the areas of commercial litigation and creditors' rights.
Jay holds memberships in the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina Bar Association, and its Litigation Section Practice Group, and the Defense Research Institute.
Jay is a 1986 graduate of the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. He also received his law degree from the University of North Carolina in 1991, where he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers.
In cases of particular interest, Jay has successfully handled cases in the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina involving interpretation of federal law favorable to interstate motor carriers.
