Governmental Affairs Young Moore and Henderson's Governmental Affairs Group consists of experienced attorneys with legislative representation capabilities before the North Carolina General Assembly. We have extensive experience in lobbying on matters affecting businesses and regulated industries, and we are currently involved in a significant way in lobbying on matters relating to property and casualty insurance as well as to health insurance, patients' rights and managed care, which are hotly debated issues of national interest. We often draft legislation for our clients and routinely work with legislators and departments within state government to craft legislative solutions to our clients' problems and concerns. We often provide informed testimony before legislative committees, and we assist clients in complying with lobbying laws and restrictions, including the creation, management and use of political action committees. Additionally, the Governmental Affairs Group closely monitors the work of legislative study commissions when the legislature is not in session and reports to our clients on the work of these commissions. We provide testimony on behalf of our clients to these study commissions and work to achieve study commission recommendations that are favorable for our clients. We represent individual companies before the legislature as well as trade associations, and we have expertise in developing coalitions to promote or oppose legislation. We frequently work with expert witnesses in developing testimony relating to proposed or pending legislation and are experienced in identifying allies and in working with them to devise effective legislative strategies.
