Summer Associate Program
Our summer program is designed to allow each student to experience what it would be like to practice as a new associate with Young Moore and Henderson. To meet that goal, our program is structured so that each student works with as many different lawyers in the firm on as many different types of projects as possible. Because of the diversity in the practice areas within the firm, each summer associate has the opportunity to explore many areas of law. In addition to research and legal drafting, we recognize that it is extremely important for the summer associates to attend depositions, hearings, client meetings, motions, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appellate hearings. Therefore, we make sure that much of a summer associate's time during the summer is spent with our lawyers at these various appearances.
We ask that first year law students spend an entire summer with us. We urge second year law students to spend the entire summer with us, particularly if it would be their first exposure to our firm. However, we will consider requests by second year students to split the summer on a case-by-case basis. Every summer associate is assigned two mentor attorneys. We recognize the importance of feedback to help make the summer more meaningful, and we schedule formal reviews at the middle and end of the summer associate's time with us. Each summer Associate will also receive informal feedback from all of the attorneys with whom the summer associate is working as projects are completed. We make a significant commitment to our summer program, and it is our most important source for hiring new attorneys.
